In the Flash Light Tour at the Haus am Waldsee, we explore Peter Wächtler’s artworks in an unusual light. Who appears in the darkness? Together, we move the spotlights around and discover animals, mysterious creatures and fairy-tale characters. What stories do they tell? We experiment with shadows, the colours of light, and become explorers in the dark.
Torches will be provided.
* Participation for children aged 5 and over, accompanied by an adult. Free ticket for children up to 18 years. Admission for adults 9€

Talking bears, smart foxes, and rowing moles – in Peter Wächtler’s works, we encounter animals, mythical creatures, and characters from fairy tales. They often behave like humans: they think about things, have hopes, are sad, funny, or strange. Take a close look and then create your own imaginative figures out of clay. What stories do they tell?

Nina Akhvlediani in Conversation with Pia-Marie Remmers (in English)
6 pm
Tickets (Admission free)
On the occasion of the third and final chapter of Since…, Nina Akhvlediani will give a lecture on the development of the display architecture conceived for the exhibition series at Haus am Waldsee and its place within her wider practice, followed by a conversation with curator Pia-Marie Remmers.
Presented in the former garage, now the café, Since… unfolded across three chapters over the course of Haus am Waldsee’s 80th anniversary year. In each chapter, the artists Luciano Pecoits, Veit Laurent Kurz, and Sophie Kovel approached the institution’s history from different perspectives. The display architecture, which served as the foundation for each of the three exhibitions, is based on an open, scalable modular system structured through a shared geometrical grid. Its elements function as an adaptable framework rather than a fixed scenography, enabling assembly, disassembly, and reconfiguration in situ. The architecture resists a single chronological order and instead foregrounds fragmentation and re-enactment, sustaining gestures in a state of becoming and allowing materials to unfold as layered iterations.
Drawing on Akhvlediani’s wider practice, the conversation will consider durational exhibition models, working with archival materials and the relationship between display, documentation, and printed matter. Moving-image footage documenting the production process of the display architecture for Since… will accompany the conversation.

The Slow Looking Workshop in the exhibition Peter Wächtler. Ständig gives participants a space to pause and consciously devote themselves to viewing a selected work of art. Guided by art therapists Naira Bloss and Ulla Utasch, participants do a short relaxation exercise in the exhibition space, calm down and take time to encounter the art. In a group discussion, participants are invited to share their own perceptions, associations and inner images. Afterwards, inspired by the exhibition visit, participants have the opportunity to create their own artwork in the studio*.

Lea Rahel Bader and Heidi Gröger are dedicating the final Kantione concert night of the year to avant-garde composers of the Baroque era, such as Guillaume de Machaut, Tobias Hume, Antoine Forqueray, and others. At the same time, Avantgardists also includes the premiere of a piece by the contemporary composer Marco Baldini: Bicinum (2026) is inspired by a short two-voice composition often used for educational purposes during the Renaissance and Early Baroque. Written specifically for two seven-string bass viola da gamba, the essential dialogic structure typical of this form is stretched to the extreme. The result is minimal music, where the ancient Renaissance and Baroque antecedent emerges as a distant yet still tangible echo.
